The first piece of mail Oscar sent
after being rescued.It is a V-mail letter he wrote in January 30,
1945 from APO 920 (Australia). The letter reads:
Dear
Mom and Dad:
I am
back with the U.S. Army. I got back with the troops about three weeks ago.
They don't know what is the matter with my leg yet. I believe some dislocated
muscles. I will be on my way back to the States soon. I hope you both are
all right. I will write you again as soon I each the States. The doctors
say it will take a little time to restore the energy back in my leg. Well
i will see you soon in the United States.
